Last month I got the chance to visit Meow Wolf (https://meowwolf.com/)
Which is a very fun art space in Santa Fe, NM
It really feels like falling into wonderland, each area has it's own theme and if you follow along closely there is an overarching story throughout the whole experience.
Here are a ton of pictures I took,

This was my favorite room, everything was 3d but painted to look like a 2d cartoon set.

The laser room let you play music on a giant laser stringed harp.

Every nook and cranny was explorable, even the fridge and the fireplace were secret passageways.

This area was the perfect fairytale forest and the mushrooms lighted up when you tapped them.
And my outfit, all handmade. I really loved going in casual lolita, fancy enough to feel part of it all but casual enough to be able to climb about and enjoy it. If you ever have the chance to go I super duper recommend it, but make sure you wear bloomers and nothing super dear to you because it is very interactive and I did end up getting the hem of my dress caught on the occasional bit of scenery.

Summer ILD 2016!

This year I hosted a meet up for my local comm for international lolita day. We went to the aquarium and botanic gardens. It was lovely because everything was in bloom but it was on the warmer side, luckily not as warm as it is now (last week topped 100 most days ). This is actually the first time in ten years of wearing lolita that I did something special on ILD.

Our comm is really tiny but all the members are sweet. Sorry I'm not including any pics of the other members but I haven't asked for their permission to post. If you are in the Albuquerque area (or are visiting) please check our community out on FB, we are Lolitas of New Mexico

Sadly all the cherry blossoms were gone from the Japanese gardens but there were lots of other things growing and several little bunnies running around.

I thought this sign was great. The insect house had a display of leaf cutter ants that went above our heads from tree to tree.
If you look super close you can see the ants carrying their leafs along the branch

The fairytale garden is the cutest part of the gardens. They have giant versions of everything in a garden including a giant pumpkin you can walk inside.
The glowing jellyfish room. The jellys were in a giant tube, if you look hard you can see the silhouette of another lolita on the other side.

My little gift shop purchase. Now I feel compelled to get a sea themed dress to pair with it!
My outfit shot in the fairytale garden. I really want giant seed packets to decorate my yard with. Sorry I look totally bleh in the photo, I of course forgot to snag a picture before we walked about and got sweaty.
And a quick snap of after the meet when I realized I didn't have any proper outfit shots. It rained about 45 minutes after the meet ended good timing for us!
Hair and makeup. I trimmed the wig to have softer face framing pieces it works much better to soften my face i think.

And nail set. I've working to keep my nails cuter because even if I don't feel up to getting fancy it can be a bit of cute in my life :) This set is acrylic with 3d designs in pink, lilac, and white with a hearts and candy theme.

How was your ILD? Hope your having a wonderful weekend!

Last month I went out to our local natural history museum, they have a free day once a month and it's a nice way to spend a morning. I remember coming to the museum nearly every school year I went to  public school here.

simple more otome leaning OOTD.
I had just received these shoes so I had to give them a test run. And I realized that most of my purses didn't make in the move with me and must be in some box or another at my mothers house. So my daily pink bow purse had to be a stand in until I feel up for searching for them.

This was a great exhibit! they had all the hats and accessorizes made of bird in cabinets and drawers you could open and all in a wood paneled 'room'.

A cute bird of paradise.

And my sweets obsession recently Cookies! So many cookies. These are snickerdoodles I've been working on, i almost have the recipe perfect for high altitude.

Hope your week is going lovely!

Next up Demeter perfumes and my rambling about coordinating outfits and scents

A modest start at decorating and a flowering heart tutorial

I've had a slow start to decorating our new place. Luckily we had most of the furniture we needed and now it's just adding touches that will bring it all together.

Overall it will hopefully (fingers super crossed) end up with a blue, cream, and floral theme throughout the house (with more pink in the bedroom). I want something that compliments the lolita aesthetic but isn't so over the top, except the bedroom I've been given free reign to go as OTT as I want in there!

Starting on the living room I made this heart decoration to hang along side a cork board over my sewing area.

It's really easy to make! And can be in any color scheme to fit your decor.
You will need:
Cardboard
Box cutter
Hot glue/glue gun
Ribbon
Fake flowers

I based mine out of cardboard, it's lightweight and fairly durable. Having the whole project be light is great if you can't put holes in your walls or don't want to hang it over a stud.

Start by marking out your heart. I eyeballed it but if you want to be exact printing out a heart would be simple.

All cut out and marked for the center.

And the finished form. This would be cute with letters (maybe your initials or a short word)

A selection of fake flowers. I pick mid range ones in terms of quality. Don't go for the super nice ones made of velvet unless you are dedicated to dusting because they can be a bear to clean. I found it easiest to trim most of the stem off so they are able to be positioned flat or at an angle.

Slowly applying them with hot glue. You could use an epoxy or a slow drying glue like e6000 but hot glue works fine and gives quick results.

On the back glue a loop.

And you're done! Overall this took a little under an hour, so a good project for an evening or a rainy  day.

Hopefully I will have some full room shots soon :) Also upcoming my attempts to make a billion flavors of macarons and a few new sewing projects and purchases.

Hope your having a wonderful week.I will leave you with an outfit snap of mine from Easter. I love that spring is finally making an appearance.
